About
Yungu High School
___
Who we are

Yungu High School is an innovative private high school which adheres to the educational principles of the whole-person, competency-based and future-oriented education models. It is committed to cultivating “innovators for social good”. Based on the Chinese National Curriculum, Yungu High School has designed a system of high-quality integrated courses that are both Chinese-rooted and internationalized. The curriculum consists of both academic subject courses and extended courses, these being future readiness initiatives, student life activities, and social service opportunities.

Yungu High School aims to prepare its graduates to study abroad and assists them in applying to English-taught higher educational institutions around the world. Aspects of academics, student life and future readiness are organically intertwined throughout the school, which not only supports students in preparation for further learning, but also helps them understand and grasp their Chinese identity, enhance their sense of global awareness, and develop their international perspective so that students can become global citizens with “Chinese hearts” and “global view”.

Educational Philosophy

Guided by thoughtful mentors, teachers and peers, boarding school students make daily choices that, with reflection, shape their identities, values, interests, passions, and individual courses of study. Teachers foster connections—intellectual and human—while promoting a spirit of inquiry as they inspire students to grapple with ambiguity. Yungu teachers strive to foster environments in which students learn from one another while creating experiences in which students are doing, rather than learning about, the work of each field.

Perspectives on Curriculum

Yungu teachers co-create curriculum that connects and continually adapts to the world around them. Students are engaged in rigorous tasks—inquiry, seminar discussion, collaborative projects, research, writing and presentation—to develop the skills, agency and character to become innovators and critical thinkers ready and able to serve the world.
