1、Competency-Based Education
Yungu High School's curriculum is competency-based and future-oriented, which integrates the best of East and rest, cultivating students’ well-rounded development with depth and angles, culture confidence, identity, and global perspectives. Based on the Chinese National Curriculum, our academic courses encompass three divisions, namely, Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS), Science, Technology, and Mathematics (STEM), and Performance, Production, and Design Division (P2D2), integrate international standards such as AP, GAC, IB, NGSS, and rigorously develop students’ cognitive skills such as critical thinking and creativity through deeper and project-based learning. Our curriculum adopts CBE (Competency-based Education) learning model with the following characteristics.
·Students advance upon demonstrated mastery of the academic standards.
·Learning process is student-centered and empowers students to own their education. Competencies are characterized by transparent, explicit, measurable, transferable learning objectives/rubrics that empower students to set goals, plan, reflect, and reiterate their own learning. A mixed age group is also applied to enable students to learn at their own pace.
·Assessment for learning. More than pen and paper test that is assessment of learning, we leverage the power of performance-based assessment to develop students’ competencies while completing different tasks and formative assessments to provide timely, differentiated support based on their individual learning needs as they advance toward Mastery.
·Learning by doing. Learning outcomes emphasize competencies that include application and creation of knowledge, along with the development of important skills and dispositions.
2、Individualized Academic Support
Yungu’s competency-based education does not simply mean "one person, one curriculum", but "one person, one report card". Our "competency indicator system" emphasizes students’ personal development and progression, rather than forcing competitions and comparisons among the students.
Yungu School has joined the Mastery Transcript Consortium (MTC), providing electronic and interactive mastery transcripts for students' college applications. This transcript is recognized by reputable higher institutions around the world and is meant to represent the mainstream of college application transcripts in the near future.
3、Academic Course Catalogue
